Write to Compassion Kids
Our kids would love for us to write to them. If you leave comments for this post, in about a week I will print those off and put them in the mail to Gerson and Mariela.
Also, did you know in the society where Gerson and Mariela live only 3% of people graduate from high school? I'd love to have someone take on the challenge to do a little report for us some night at the WIRE about Honduras, where they live.
You gave over $60 to them last Sunday... Great Job! We have been faithfully supporting them with only gifts from the student ministry for a year and a half now.

Compassion Kids Letters

We recieved letters in the mail from Gerson and Mariela this week and I want to share them with you. Here is Gerson's letter....
"This is Gerson's mom, Blanca. Hello, Christ's Church. Gerson says he is
thankful to God to write to you again, hoping you and the youth group are doing well. Gerson says he is doing well here and he says the weather here is cool. He wants to tell you that he went on a trip with the project to a beautiful forest, where they celebrated the day dedicated to the children and Gerson says they played and ate and it was very special. Gerson says he is doing well at school and he is going to end his school year. Gerson sends a photo with his cousins Kevin, Andrea and Gustavo. (Gerson is the one in the red shirt and blue shorts) They are also a part of the project. Gerson says good bye to you warmly and hopes you write soon to know about you and tell you things about me. May God send rich and abundant blessings."

"I greet you with a big hug and in the name of the Lord. I want to tell you that my family and I are doing well and healthy. We have, as tradition, to celebrate Christmas and September 15th. When we go to the parade, we take the national flag. Our national hero is Francisco Morazan. I want to tell you that the weather here in Honduras is warm and we have lots of mountains. Our community is in the counrty away from the city we go to church, where we learn verses. My favorite verse is Psalms 138:1. The teacher of the project is Lidia Perdona. She is a good teacher and we study the physical, intellectual, and spiritual areas.
One of our activities is to have a church. Good bye in the name of the Lord. I hope you write soon. Kisses and hugs."

Dodgeball-Coming again
What a bunch of neon green studs. This was our illustrious dodgeball team a couple months ago. Well, there's another tourney coming up. Any high school guy who is a part of our youth group can play. So, if you want to play and are not a part of our group yet, just start coming over the next month or so...Our captain... Oh-nax. He's the man with the plan. I'd like to say we didn't get dominated during the first exhibition... but that would not be true. Our guys were definately as athletic as any other team, but we got trashed pretty good. That was actually a tactic, though, so that at this next tournament they won't expect anything...

Fantasy Football
Well, so ends another season of Fantasy Football. This year's winner: SEAN COLE! That's right, I got beat by a seventh grader. But, so did lots of other people... like Ed McColley. And I beat Ed... by a lot.
Plus, I did not get beat by any girls this year. So, that's one less bruise to my ego. It was fun, and I ended up second, which is my best showing so far.
I hope you are having a great break.
